Deal pipelines and stages
A pipeline is the series of stages your deals move through, from first conversation to won or lost. Use this page to create pipelines and shape their stages. You need CRM admin access to change pipelines; other members can view them.
Open pipeline settings
Go to Settings → CRM → Deal pipelines. You can also select the Pipelines icon at the bottom of the CRM menu.
Each pipeline shows its name, its default deal type, and how many stages and deals it has. The default pipeline is marked Default.
Create a pipeline
Select Create pipeline.
Enter a Pipeline name, for example "Outbound sales".
In Start with, choose Standard sales stages or copy the stages of an existing pipeline. Copying brings over stage names, order, outcomes, and probabilities. Deals stay in their original pipeline.
Optionally, open Optional settings to choose the Default deal type and whether this is the Default pipeline.
Save the pipeline.
The standard stages are:
Stage | Outcome | Win probability |
|---|---|---|
Qualification | Open | 10% |
Proposal | Open | 30% |
Negotiation | Open | 60% |
Closed won | Won | 100% |
Closed lost | Lost | 0% |
Default deal type
Deal type | Use it for |
|---|---|
New business | First purchases from new customers. |
Existing business | Renewals, upgrades, and additional purchases from existing customers. |
New deals in the pipeline inherit this type. You can change an individual deal's type on the deal page.
Add or edit a stage
Expand the pipeline to see its stages.
Select Add stage for open stages, or Add outcome for won and lost stages. To change an existing stage, select its edit button.
Enter the Stage name, and choose a Color, an Outcome (Open, Won, or Lost), and a Win probability (%).
Save the stage.
Every stage has one of three outcomes. Open stages are in progress. Won and lost stages close the deal and always stay at the end of the pipeline.
Win probability estimates the chance of closing a deal in that stage. A deal's own probability takes priority.
Reorder stages
Drag a stage by its handle, or choose a position from its position menu. Stages reorder within their outcome group.
Delete a stage
Select the stage's delete button.
If deals use the stage, choose a stage in Move deals to. Only stages with the same outcome are offered, so open deals stay open and closed deals keep their outcome.
Confirm the deletion.
Delete a pipeline
Select Delete pipeline. You must first move all of the pipeline's deals, including won and lost deals, to another pipeline. Deleting a pipeline removes it and its stages permanently.
