Labels
Labels are flexible tags for categorizing tasks, epics, and sprints. Use them for cross-cutting information that workflow states and team membership do not capture, such as "customer request" or "needs design".
Create and manage labels
Open Settings and choose Teams.
Select the team you want to configure and open its Labels settings.
Create a label with a clear name, an optional description, and a color that makes it easy to recognize in lists and boards.
Labels can be archived when they are no longer useful. Archived labels stay out of pickers, so your active label list remains easy to scan.
Choose the right scope
Helpin supports two label scopes:
Scope | Where it is managed | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
Team label | Team Settings > Labels | That team's tasks, epics, and sprints, shown by default |
Workspace label | Workspace settings (optional) | Across teams when enabled |
In a team context, team labels appear first, and shared workspace labels may appear in a separate group. Cross-team views show both, identified by each label's origin. If two teams use the same word differently, team-scoped labels let both teams keep their own terminology.
Apply labels to work
Open a task or epic.
Use its label picker to add the relevant labels.
Apply more than one label when each captures a different aspect.
Use labels to filter tasks and epics on boards, lists, and saved views, and to understand how work is distributed across your team.
Tip: Prefer a small, shared set of meaningful labels over many near-duplicates. Decide whether a label should mean the same thing everywhere (workspace) or only for one team (team-scoped) before you create it.
