Team settings, mentions & labels
Each team can have its own PM setup. This page covers configuring a team's PM settings, setting its handle for team mentions, and keeping labels in the right scope.
Configure a team's PM settings
Open Settings and choose Teams.
Select the team you want to configure.
Update the settings you need. Depending on the setting, you can manage the team's workflow and statuses, automations, member access, and PM defaults.
Team settings keep changes focused on that team instead of changing the workspace. Workspace-wide members, roles, security, billing, and integrations stay outside the team's PM settings — use workspace settings for changes that affect everyone.
Set and use the team handle
In the team's general settings, set the Handle.
Handles are unique within a workspace and use a lowercase, slug-like format, for example
growth. In a supported PM description or comment, type
@growthand choose the suggested team.
Helpin inserts the team mention and notifies active members of the mentioned team who have access to the item.
Changing a handle affects future mentions. It does not change notifications that were already sent.
Keep labels in the right scope
Create and manage team labels from Team Settings > Labels.
Label type | Belongs to | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
Team label | One team | That team's tasks and epics |
Shared workspace label | The workspace | Across teams when enabled |
In a team context, team labels appear first and shared labels appear after them.
Keep collaboration focused
Use an individual @mention when one person needs to respond.
Use a team handle when the whole relevant team should be informed.
Follow the item yourself if you want to stay updated on later activity.
