Mentioning people

Use @mentions in PM descriptions and comments to bring the right person into a specific piece of work and send them a mention notification.

Mention someone in a comment

  1. Open the task, epic, or objective and start a comment.

  2. Type @ and begin entering the person's name or mention handle.

  3. Choose the person from the suggestion list before you post.

  4. Add a short, clear request after the mention, then send the comment.

The selected mention stays associated with that person, so Helpin can notify them about your comment. You can mention more than one person when several people need to take part in the conversation.

Mention someone in a description

You can also use @mentions while writing or editing supported PM descriptions. Type @, select the person from the suggestions, then save your changes.

Tip: Use a comment when you need a timely reply. Use the description when the mention is part of the durable context of the work.

Know what notifications do

  • A mention creates a notification for the recipient. Helpin groups activity on the same item together, so related updates can arrive as a single grouped notification.

  • Mention notifications are separate from general activity updates. The person can also follow the item to receive updates that matter to followers.

Mention a team when appropriate

If your workspace has team handles, you can select an @team-handle suggestion in supported PM text. That notifies active members of the mentioned team who have access to the item.

Use this for an update that genuinely needs the team's attention. For a specific request, mention the individual instead.
