Help Scout integration
Moving your knowledge base from Help Scout? Helpin can import the articles, categories, and images from your Help Scout Docs site into a Helpin space. It's a one-time import: Helpin doesn't connect to Help Scout mailboxes, conversations, or customers, and it doesn't keep syncing after the import finishes.
Before you start
You need to be a workspace Admin or Owner.
Get a Help Scout Docs API key. In Help Scout, go to Your Profile → Authentication → API Keys.
Import your Help Scout Docs
Open Settings and, under Integrations & data, select Import & export.
Under Help Center, choose HelpScout.
In API Key, paste your Help Scout Docs API key, then select Connect & Preview.
Review the preview. Under Collection, choose a Target Space: an existing space, or Create new space and enter a New space name.
Choose an Import Status:
Option | What happens |
|---|---|
Import as draft | Articles arrive as drafts so you can review them first |
Import as published | Articles are published right away |
Match source status | Each article keeps its published or draft status from Help Scout |
Select Start Import. You can select Cancel Import while it runs.
After the import
When the import finishes you can:
Retry Failed to try again for any articles that didn't import.
Download Redirect Map to get a list of old Help Scout URLs and their new Helpin URLs.
Start New Import to import another site.
Helpin creates redirects from your old Help Scout article URLs automatically, so existing links keep working once your Help Center is live.
Good to know
Your API key is used only for the import. There's nothing to disconnect afterwards.
To import from other sources, see Help center imports.
