Agents overview
Agents are AI teammates that do work in your workspace: plan epics and tasks, write and review code, update docs, reply to customers and work with CRM records. You start an agent yourself, ask Ask Agent to start one, or let a flow start it when something happens.
This page explains the two kinds of agents and how to find your way around the Agents page.
Built-in and custom agents
Built-in agents | Custom agents | |
|---|---|---|
Who creates them | Helpin adds them to every workspace | People in your workspace |
How to spot them | System badge | No badge; details say "Custom agent" |
How you change them | Create and activate a custom version | Edit settings and versions directly |
Can be deleted | No | Yes |
Started from | Their product area, flows and Ask Agent | Run now, flows and Ask Agent |
Both kinds run the same way, and every run is recorded so you can review what the agent did. See Built-in agents and Create a custom agent.
Open the Agents page
In the sidebar, open Automation.
Select Agents.
The page lists every agent you can use. Switch between the list and grid views with the buttons at the top right. If you can edit automation, you also see New Custom Agent.
For each agent you see its role, a short description, its model size, its default run mode, the number of runs in the last 7 days, when it last ran and the flows that use it. An agent with runs that need attention is highlighted.
Agent actions
Open the More agent actions menu on an agent to:
Run now — start a custom agent manually. Built-in agents start from their own product area instead.
View runs — open Activity filtered to this agent.
Open latest run — jump to the most recent run.
Edit — open the agent's details.
Delete — remove a custom agent.
Run now is unavailable while the agent already has a queued, running or paused run, or when it has no working area you can start it on.
Agent details
Select an agent to open its details. There are three tabs:
Versions — the agent's instructions, skills, tools, working areas, run mode and AI profile. See Agent settings reference.
Analytics — run trends and the last five runs with status, target, tokens and time.
Limits — token use this month and in total. See Agent usage and limits.
Where runs appear
Every time an agent works, Helpin records a run. Open a run to follow its transcript, answer questions, approve actions and see what it produced. See Agent runs and Flows vs agents vs runs.
