Security settings

Keep your Helpin account secure. From your security settings you can change your password, turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) with an authenticator app, and add passkeys so you can sign in with your device.

To open them, go to Settings and select Security under Personal.

Change your password

1. In Password, enter your Current password.

2. Enter a New password of at least 8 characters, and type it again in Confirm new password.

3. Select Update password.

Turn on two-factor authentication

With 2FA on, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password, each time you sign in.

1. In Two-factor authentication, select Enable 2FA.

2. Enter your Current Password and select Continue.

3. Save recovery codes. Helpin shows 10 single-use recovery codes. Select Copy all or Download .txt, store them somewhere safe, and confirm that you've saved them. They won't be shown again.

4. Connect authenticator. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you can't scan it, select Can't scan the QR code? and copy the setup key instead.

5. Enter the Authenticator Code from your app and select Enable 2FA.

The card now shows 2FA as Enabled.

Sign in with 2FA

After you enter your password, Helpin asks you to verify it's you. Enter the code from your authenticator app. If you don't have your device, select Use recovery code and enter one of your recovery codes. Each code works once.

Add a passkey

Passkeys let you sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or another device-backed passkey instead of typing a password.

1. In Passkeys, select Add a passkey.

2. Follow your browser or device prompts to create the passkey.

Helpin names each passkey after the device type, such as "Mac passkey" or "iPhone or iPad passkey", and shows the date you added it. To sign in, select Sign in with passkey on the login page.

Passkeys and 2FA

Passkeys marked Verified were created with a device check, such as a fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN. A verified passkey satisfies 2FA on its own. If you use a passkey that isn't verified and 2FA is on, Helpin still asks for your authenticator code.

Remove a passkey

Select Delete next to the passkey. It's removed right away, so make sure you still have another way to sign in.
