Import content into Docs

Use this page to bring existing content into Docs. For the full details of what the help center importer converts — image re-hosting, warnings, redirect maps — see Help center imports. To track or re-run a job, see Import history.

Steps to import

1. Pick your path — see When to use each path below.

2. Provide the source — a Help Scout API key, or an upload of your Nextra site archive.

3. Check the preview — collections, article counts, and detected spaces are listed before anything is created.

4. Configure — choose the target space (or create a new one) and whether imported articles start as drafts or published.

5. Run — the import continues in the background, even if you close your browser; follow it in Import history.

6. Review — work through the summary and warnings (see After any import below).

When to use each path

Situation	Use
Moving from Help Scout	Help Scout import (connect with an API key, preview, then start)
Migrating a Nextra docs site	Nextra archive upload wizard
One or two documents	Create documents manually, or paste into the editor (markdown paste / .md / .docx upload)
Another tool entirely	Export to Markdown/HTML and use the archive path, or ask about expanding import sources

After any import

1. Check the import summary (counts + warnings).

2. Review articles flagged with conversion warnings.

3. Confirm the redirect map covers your old URLs.

4. Publish deliberately — drafts-first is the safe default.
