Chat with Ask Agent
Ask Agent is your workspace assistant. Ask it a question about your workspace, or describe work for it to do, and it researches, plans and carries out the work in a chat. When a job needs a specialist or takes a long time, it hands that part to another agent and brings the result back to the chat.
Open Ask Agent
Select Ask Agent in the agent dock at the bottom of the screen, or
Press / when you aren't typing in a field.
The dock has two views: Chats for your conversations and Agent runs for agents working in the background. Select New chat or task to start fresh.
What you can ask for
Answers — "Which open tasks are blocked this sprint?" or "Summarize this deal's recent activity."
Everyday work — create or update tasks, documents and CRM records.
Planning — for longer requests, Ask Agent keeps a Work plan in the chat so you can follow its progress.
Specialist work — changing code, running a review or other long jobs are handed to agents such as Forge or Lens. See Delegate long-running work to agents.
New agents — ask it to set up a reusable custom agent. It drafts the agent and asks you to approve before creating it.
Ask Agent can read connected code repositories. Repository changes, such as new branches, commits and pull requests, are handed to a coding agent.
Give it context
Current page — when you open the dock from a task, document, deal or support conversation, that item is attached as context. Remove it if it isn't relevant.
References — type @ in the message box to add up to 10 references to other items.
Files — use Attach files to add images, short videos, PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, CSV or JSON files up to 20 MB.
Approvals and permissions
Ask Agent can only do what you're allowed to do. Its tools are limited to your own permissions, which are checked again on every action. Before sensitive or destructive actions, it pauses and asks you to approve. Chats and runs that need you are marked Needs you in the dock.
To stop the agent mid-task, select Stop agent.
Code and Python tools
The Code menu in the message box turns on Code & Python for your chat. The agent can then edit files and run commands in a worker. Files in the worker aren't isolated between runs, so don't rely on it for private data. Only the chat's owner can change this setting.
Share or organize a chat
Chats are private to you by default. To change who can open one, use Who can see this chat?:

If you make a shared chat private again, teammates lose access to its history. From the chat list you can also Rename or Archive a chat.
Good to know
A chat keeps the AI profile it started with, shown as Saved profile.
You can come back to a chat later. If it has been idle for a long time, Ask Agent continues with the recent conversation and any pending results.
