Respond to approvals and questions during a run

Some agent runs pause and wait for you. An agent might need an answer, your approval before it changes something, or your review of its findings. This page explains how to spot a paused run and how to respond to each kind of request.

When runs pause

A run pauses when:

the agent's Run mode is Interactive and it asks you a question;
its Approval policy requires a person to approve an action or the run itself;
it needs you to review findings before it continues;
a connected external tool needs you to sign in again.

Autonomous runs with No approval don't pause for people. See Give agents tools and skills for approval policy options.

Find runs that need you

Automation → Activity shows a count badge in the sidebar when runs need attention.
On a task, the next action changes to Reply to agent, Review agent request or Complete agent sign-in.
In the run view, the status shows Input, Approval, Review or Sign-in.

Open the run to see the request card.

Answer a question

The card is labelled Needs your input.

Choose one of the offered answers, or choose Other and type your own.
For free-text questions, type in Type your answer.
Submit your answer. The run resumes.

Approve an action

The card is labelled Needs your approval and describes what the agent wants to do.

Optionally add a note in Add a note (optional).
Select Approve to let the agent continue, or Request changes to send it back with your note.

Review findings

The card is labelled Needs your review and lists Findings.

Select the findings you agree with.
Optionally add a note.
Select Approve to accept the selected findings, Skip to continue without acting on them, or Request changes.

Approve commands, file changes or permissions

Coding runs can ask before running a command, changing files or using extra permissions. Coding agents are not available in the Community edition.

Request	Your options
Command approval or File-change approval	Approve, Approve for session, Decline or Cancel turn, depending on what the request allows.
Permissions approval	Allow for turn, Allow for session or Deny.

If an external MCP server's connection expires, runs using it pause with Sign-in. A workspace manager reconnects the server in settings; paused runs then resume. See External MCP servers.

Support drafts

When a support agent's run needs approval, the conversation shows an Agent Runs card with Approve Draft.
